Khalid Al-Jadir

Khalid Al-Jadir (1924 – 1988) was among the most outstanding, brilliant and inventive men of the 20th century Iraqi art movement. He was one of the most exceptional artists in the history of modern Iraqi and Arab art, who received wide recognition. His paintings opt for naturalism without regard to the common idioms. His subjects are people in the street, in the alley, in the market, in the village. They are the poor women and men of daily life with their many children, awkwardly unsightly, but alive and powerful.
