Max Uhlig

Max Uhlig (b. 19379 is a German painter, especially devoted to portraits, everyday and landscape motifs. He was a professor of painting at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden. From 1955 to 1960, Uhlig studied at the Dresden College of Fine Arts with Hans Theo Richter and Max Schwimmer. Black and white or in color, lines in the expressive rhythm of their superimposition draw the pictorial mode and conciseness of an extensive, distinctive body of work that is a discovery. Max Uhlig is today one of the last representatives of the era of outdoor painting in modern art, which began 150 years ago, but his work raises it to the height of our time.
